Navigation Templates

Game-related navboxes

These should go at the bottom of every page related to any given game.

{{ShantaeGBCNavbox}}
{{RiskysRevengeNavbox}}
{{TPCNavbox}}
{{HGHNavbox}}

Additionally, this navbox should go at the bottom of any game page. It will be found bundled with the above navboxes, but for cancelled or upcoming games, it might need to go by itself.

{{ShantaeSeriesNavbox}}

Finally, the Mighty series has it's own navbox.

{{MightyNavbox}}

Other Category-specific navboxes

{{CharactersNavbox}} - goes under Character articles
{{FandomNavbox}} - goes under Fandom articles
{{LibraryNavbox}} - goes under Library articles
{{RealWorldNavbox}} - goes under articles dedicated to real world matters, like people and things

There is an additional navbox that you will find at the bottom of this page.

Notice Templates

These are all notice templates.

Stub

Stick this guy at the bottom of an under-finished page, but above its navbox and references section.

SRR jam x2 This jar is half empty! This article is a stub. You can help Shantae Wiki by expanding it.

Main Article

Shove this one in a sub-article to take users to the main one.

SRR scroll x2 Main article: MAIN_ARTICLE_NAME_GOES_HERE

Library Notice

Is there text in the Library about this article? Then use this guy, preferably after the introductory paragraph:

SRR sprite - redbook x2 There happens to be a Library article on this topic: LIBRARY_ARTICLE_NAME_GOES_HERE at the Shantae Wiki Library

Fanart Notice

Did someone draw some adorable fanart about the article's titular character? Of course they did. And you're going to link to it using this template:

SRR sprite - greenbook x2 The Shantae Fandom Portal has Fanart of FANART_CATEGORY_NAME: View FANART_CATEGORY_NAME fanart

Disambiguation

Use this on disambiguation pages. Typically these sort between different game's versions of the same articles. Or there's the Spider article, which has to disambiguate so much because OMG there's spiders everywhere.

Shantae GBC - sprite - Twin Mint Are you seeing double, or has "Community Central:Templates" eaten a Twin Mint?

This article is a disambiguation page for Community Central:Templates. The following is a list of links to pages that might share the same title. Please follow one of the disambiguation links below or search to find the page you were looking for if it is not listed. If an internal link led you here, you may wish to change the link to point directly to the intended article.

Special Link Templates

Item Links

You can use the Item template to make a fancy item link, which will automatically link to the relevant item page. Like this one:
{{Item|ITEMNAME|INSTALMENT|LINK}}

ITEMNAME
:The name of the item, first letter capitalized.

INSTALLMENT
:The installment
:examples: GBC, SRR, TPC, HGH

LINK
:The link, if it exists
:"SELF" links to the very word in ITEMNAME
If it's a type of item that only appears in one game, you don't really need to specify what game it appears in. If there is no image pre-arranged for the thing, a question mark will appear instead, like this:

Form Links

You can make a fancy form link like these , all of which link to the Forms article, by using the following template:
{{Form|FORMNAME|INSTALLMENT}}

FORMNAMES
:The name of the form, first letter capitalized.
:examples: Spider, Tinkerbat, Harpy, Monkey, Elephant, Girl, Mermaid, etc.

INSTALLMENT (optional)
:The installment
:examples: GBC, SRR, SPC, SHGH
It is very likely that in the future the INSTALLMENT variable will be removed. I mean, do we really need a new monkey link icon every time a new game comes out?

Game Links

I may have gone a tad overboard with styling these, but I originally made these a quick way of linking to a game's article. Simply type {{game|#}} to make a link, with # to be replaced with the number of the instalment. There's also a short and full name version, see the source of what's in the table below for deets.

1 2 3 4 GBA
Regular Shantae Risky's Revenge The Pirate's Curse Half-Genie Hero Risky Revolution
Full Title   Risky's Revenge and the Pirate's Curse Half-Genie Hero Advance
Short S1 RR TPC HGH GBA

Plus, I made the template work for the Mighty series as well, for some reason:

Mighty... Flip Champs Milky Way Switch Force Switch Force 2
Regular Mighty Flip Champs! Mighty Milky Way Mighty Switch Force! Mighty Switch Force!
Full Title Flip Champs! Milky Way Switch Force! Switch Force! 2
Short MFC MMM MSF MSF2

You can link to the entire series' pages by using these: Series and series

Transclusion

It's often handy to transclude content from other articles rather than duplicating it. Transcluding is a function built into MediaWiki:

{{:TRANSCLUDE_ME}}

Basically it's a summoning jutsu for articles. ARTICLENAME, I choose you! Etc.

The problem here is that it's confusing for people who want to edit the content of the transclusion, to try to track down where that item is being transcluded from. If they don't understand transclusion, they may never figure it out. Wouldn't it be nice if a dashing young man decided to make a template that nicely sidestepped this potential problem? Well, too bad, because I already did it:

Grab and Get

I made two templates that are almost identical. Why? I don't remember. I think it may have been in the event you need to transclude an article that is already made up of transclusions. You don't want to nest templates in this way, the recursive loop will burrow a hole in spacetime continuum and all of a sudden we're up to our ankles in cacodemons. Anyway, they look like this:

{{grab|YOUR_BUTT}}
{{get|IN_THE_CHOPPER}}

Where the allcaps nonsense, obviously, replaced with the name of the article you want to magically appear in the spot you place the template. Then they dump the content and make a nice cute little key icon:

Somewhere in the house! SRR - sprite - key The above section was transcluded from somewhere in the house!. Go there to edit it.

Well it looks dumb because that article doesn't exist, but you get the idea.

There's more! (noinclude and onlyinclude)

The raccoon are being really loud outside my window as I type this, but this isn't what I wanted to talk to you about. What you need to know is that if you're transcluding content from an article, but don't want some elements transcluded (for example: the navbox), you can and should either sandwich said unwanted elements betwixt some <noinclude></noinclude>, OR sandwich the wanted content betwixt <onlyinclude></onlyinclude>.

noinclude

Let me give you examples, to really nail this point home. Say you have a page that's full of delightful Lorem ipsum that you'd like to include in another, but there's an obnoxious NavBox and References section at the bottom that will be a total confusing eyesore in the article you want to transclude from, a place it has no business being. So you do this:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Morbi
ligula eros, mattis nec dictum eget, luctus eget elit. Lorem
ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Praesent et
tortor at urna sagittis tristique. Sed interdum vehicula mi,
cursus vestibulum tortor.<ref>[http://www.lipsum.com/ Lorem
Ipsum Generator]</ref>

<noinclude>

==References==
<references />

{{SomeNavbox}}

</noinclude>

onlyinclude

Here's one more example, this time for onlyinclude. I'm going to be honest, I'm not sure if I've ever used it. I am also getting bored writing instructions, so this one's going to be in the form of a Star Trek fanfic.

So Captain Kirk is down on some planet making out with a green alien babe, but it turns out she's a dracula and starts biting him. He's like, "Argh, I'm getting killed here! Transclude me up, Scotty!"

And Scotty presses a bunch of buttons to calibrate the transporter transcluder, which runs on MediaWiki. He positions the trancluder's onlyinclude tags on his sensor readout of the planet's surface as follows:

==An alien planet==
Some rocks and weird ferns and stuff. A [[space dracula]]
is on <onlyinclude>Camptain Kirk</onlyinclude>'s back,
trying to suck his lifeforce out of his brain or something
like that.

And then Kirk is transcluded up to the enterprise without the space monster that was latched to his back. And later McCoy says some hurtful things about Vulcans to Spock, who doesn't show any emotions but cries into his pillow about it later.

Layout Templates

Columns

Col content follows "col-2" template if it's a half width.

Or "col-4" if it's a quarter width.

As you can imagine, other numbers will yield different column sizes.

Show/Hide Template

You can hide a big chunk of content:

This content has been hidden because it's either too long, too boring, or whatever.

It's also possible to give a specific reason:

Spoiler Hide Template

If there's some content that is spoilerriffic, use the Spoiler Templates to cover it up. It's simpler than the above, which you'd have to use for entire paragraphs. I know it's a tad ugly, I'll make it less so eventually.

{{H}}SPOILERCONTENT{{H end}}

Tabber Template

This is useful for making tall sections easier to navigate by putting everything in tabs. You can put as many tabs as you want, as long as there's enough room. I have used them to divvy up galleries.
